Are you using Pinterest for your business?
This is one of the first questions I ask my clients and a very high percentage answer with something like – “Pinterest? No. I pin recipes and hair styles there but I’ve never used it for my business.” And then they usually look at me a bit funny because I asked.
Isn’t Pinterest just for crafts and recipes? No and no. Yes, you can find amazing recipes and crafts but Pinterest is now used for much much more.
Check out these recent Pinterest stats…
- 93% of Pinners use Pinterest to plan purchases
- 87% of Pinners bought something because of content they saw on Pinterest
- 72% of Pinners say Pinterest introduces them to new brands and services
Now do you see what I’m talking about? Those stats are amazing to me. They are coming to Pinterest to find ideas of what to purchase and they are ready to buy.
What if you aren’t selling physical goods? You will want to be on Pinterest as well! It has become a great place to troubleshoot, find other businesses and people like you and learn more about running a business. Need blog post ideas? Search Pinterest. Not sure how to use WordPress? Search Pinterest. Looking for a great wine to go with dinner? Search Pinterest of course. 🙂 Plus, if you are creating digital items – such as eBooks, printables, etc. – Pinterest can be huge for you. Create a pin advertising it and they will come.
First though, you need to be sure you have your Pinterest profile setup as a business. Here’s how:
- Log in to your personal Pinterest account
- Follow this link to convert your account to a business account
- Fill out the information and click Done
Voila! You won’t notice a difference in how Pinterest looks, however, you’ll now have access to analytics and you will be able to pin Rich Pins. More on Rich Pins in a future post!
Oh one more thing — if you haven’t verified your website/blog on Pinterest in your profile, you’ll want to do that. You can find instructions here.
